The Change
Hey there! It has been a very long while since I've written anything on this blog. For the past year I've felt as though I've been in a fog of uncertainty. Waking each morning hoping to hear that the Covid-19 virus was forever gone and banished from the world. Yet, grateful that we are somehow finding our way through this labyrinth of continue upheaval and unprecedented change.
What type of change have I been experiencing? Well, the newest thing is I'm on my way back to work in an office setting. For the first time in about 13 years or so, I'm heading back into the office to work for someone else. (Yikes!) I have many different thoughts about working in an office setting, the social distancing aspect, is everyone vaccinated or no, how soon before I can work remotely... But, for the purposes of this blog, let's keep it light and talk about clothes. What am I going to wear?
Casual Style In A Business Setting
As I mentioned previously, it's been a while since I've worked in someone else's office. My wardrobe consists mainly of the items I sell in my online store, aphroditescurves.com, which specializes in plus size casual wear for curvy women.
I thought geez, I've been wearing plus size leggings and loungewear sets to my home office for years. Returning to work in person, in an office setting, that means I'm going to have to buy a whole new wardrobe! But I calmed down a bit, I realized that I could actually mix some of my casual pieces with a few key items and voila, I'm back to the office work ready.
So, what can you wear when you return to the workplace after spending more than 2 years in leggings, t-shirts, loungewear, sweatpants and joggers? Well, if you are returning to a workplace that has a business casual dress code, you're in luck. Go grab your leggings and let's do some back to work wardrobe styling. (lol)
First, a few things to keep in mind. Let's start with the leggings.
- You need a pair quality of leggings that are in good condition, no pills, signs of wear or fading, preferably in a cotton blend or a Ponte knit.
- No shiny, thin or sheer leggings that show your skin through the fabric.
- No visible contrasting seam stitching.
- No cell phone pocket on the leg sides.
- Stick to dark neutral colors such as, black, navy blue, charcoal gray
Top them off the right way.
- Wear a long line top that covers your tush such as, a tunic, long line cardigan, or a button-down shirt that hangs lower on the back.
- A blazer polishes off just about everything you wear it with. That includes leggings, preferably one that graces the thighs.
Example of leggings worn at home with a sleeveless surplice cut top.

Finishing Touches
Accessorize your business casual outfit with a pair of hoop earrings and a pair of cute ballet flats. You can even add a colorful scarf to this ensemble. Options, ya gotta love 'em!
